Idaho ShooterThinking about a #1 in 204
I have been hearing a lot of good things about the new 204 Ruger,(and a few negative things).
I am very satisfied with my #1 ss in 7stw and am hoping to hear that the #1B in 204 will perform as well.
Has anyone gotten their hands on a #1 in 204 yet? It is not available in the shops around Boise yet.
Can you tell me that your #1B was easy to tune for 3/4 moa or better?
Do I need the extra pound of barrel weight included in the #1V to achieve this level of accuracy?
Thanks for your comments,

Bad Ass WallaceI have a Ruger No1 from 1993 in 22PPC. This factory model was sold with a med/heavy 23" barrel and is an excellent and very accurate light varminter. I hope Ruger sell the 204 in a similar style.
I was at the range yesterday, and the guy at the next bench had one. He had just picked it up and was sighting it in. After a short time, he was getting sub 1 inch groups at 100 yards. BTW, the furniture on the rifle looked not to be up to the usual Ruger standards.

Yes I have 4 #1's.
204
25-06
270 Win
458 Mag
All of them are well under Sub MOA (actually sub 1/2 MOA) guns with my reloads. The 204 shoots 32 v-maxex with Win 748 at close to 4200 fps and shoots .3" or better ALL DAY!

Idaho ShooterThanks for the response folks.
I had to completely float the forearm on my stw to get it under .75 moa. It sounds like a baby caliber will tune quicker.
I will keep on the look out for one to show up in Boise.

ChuckWagonThey had a article with tests in the recent NRA magazine. I think the best they got was over a 1" group with a stock gun but worse yet they did not break the 4000 fps mark. I guess that leaves me wondering what the point is unless you just want a new gun in a new caliber.

MINNESOTA_DICKPop,
How much tinkering (fixing)to the guns to get 1/2 MOA, or are the out of the box guns.
I have 1V in a 220 swift I am trying to get to shoot 1/2 MOA. I shoot off a bench with bags. Maybe its I am not just good enough to shoot that good.

have good day.
