Jim B.Case design for Encore rifles
For cartridges in the Encore rifles, Ie. break open, single shot.
Is it preferable for the case to have a rim?
With the fairly low pressure loads of a .243, 260 class cartridge does it really matter?

Paul HI greatly prefer rims on break open guns, simply because it makes it easier to handle the rounds, especially if you are shooting with gloved hands.
The .243 and .260 are not low pressure rounds, though they don't need rims to function well through an encore.

contendernutI prefer rimmed cases. With all cartridges based on the 308, have a rim cut in the barrel and use 307 cases.
I have (had, sold one) 4 different TC Encore barrels; 22/250, 270, 300wm and 45/70
The only one that gave me problems were the 300 with the belted case. The others work ok, never had any trouble with them. The 270 is my pet rifles these days.

Chuck WhiteI don't think that it makes any difference whether the case has a rim or not!
I have a barrel on my Encore from the TC Custom Shop, it's 26" long and chambered in .221 Rem Fireball. I have absolutely no problems at all, either inserting or extracting the cases with this gun.
Also, this gun is a tack driver!
I have also taken whitetail with it. One only went about 15 feet before going down and the other went about 50 yards. Both times were one shot each.
AND: I waited for a broadside shot and hit the heart!
