Bought a 450/400 NE Ruger #1 today
So now I have two Ruger number ones.
I have previously owned a 375 H&H, 300 Winchester, 45-70, and 405 WCF.
I want a 375 H&H Stainless, 25-06 Varmint, 204 Ruger Varmint, 7x57 International, and a 338, and maybe a 416 Ruger stainless.
I go through phases, I guess I am in a Ruger #1 phase again.

Oregon45Great choice! I've got one and have worked up two loads, both of which shoot to point of aim with the iron sights at 50 yards.
Full power load:
Hornady brass
CCI LRM Primer
Woodleigh 400gr SP
80gr H4831
Practice load:
Hornady brass
CCI LRM Primer
Montana Bullet works 400gr cast bullet, sized .410
30gr of Hogdon Trail Boss
I run a boresnake through the barrel before switching from cast bullet loads to the jacketed loads and have no trouble; both loads hit at the same point and the reduced loads kick about like a 7x57 with 120gr loads.
Sounds great, I can't wait to try the reduced loads.
I am hoping mine really likes the 300 grain bullets as well. I want to try it on elk, boars, and blackbears.

eurocentricSomeone in AR also recommended Hornady 210gr HP/XTP, 48 gr of AA 5744 with Fed 215. I made twenty of these and they shot great. One change I made to my Ruger 1 was to install a Limbsaver. Dandy rifle.

eurocentricOregon45, Isn't 80 grs a little hot? Thanks

Die Ou Jagtereurocentric, I did the same with mine also on my 9.3X74R #1. I also have one on my 416 Taylor. That is a product that works.
I am going to put Breakos in both of them them and probably a limbsaver in each as well.
I have decided on the 2.5-10x56 Trijicon for the 9.3 and the 1.75-6 Euro Burris for the 10.3.
I have started calling it the 10.3 since that is what the 450/400 2.5 inches is called. 10.3x60R. I am guessing this one is 10.3x70R.
