I have never had any luck getting a number one to shoot. I have the itch for a single shot again but would like to have it barrelled and tuned by a gunsmith who can make a number one perform. Any suggestions?

I only had 1 #1 that didn't shoot -- a .25-06. I have a 7mm rem mag, .416 rem, and .458 win that all shoot fine. The .25-06 was rebarreled by Hart. Hart did a very good job for me -- only up to .35 cal (they did a .35 whelan for me).

Check out Arthur Brown. They did a wondeful job on My #1. I had them chamber it to 30-06 AI. It shoots well under MOA. http://www.eabco.com/Ruger01.html

I am going to have my other #1 sent there as well.

I only have two #1s and they are still with factory barrells :
1) .223 averages 1 moa on 5 shot groups with 55 gr
2) 7mmMag averages 1.3 moa on 5 shot groups with 162 gr

I like those rifles so much that I would rebarrell them, but they are already good enough for me when I am not on a bench rest, or if there is any wind at all.
