npd345Any ideas on what this is or was? Martini?
I picked this up at a Gun Show several years ago. I think it is some variation of a Martini action but I really do not know.
The "action" has been placed "into" a .22 caliber barrel.
The barrel is chambered for 22 long rifle' rimfire.
The sides of the "action and the drop lever have been jeweled.
It has a very crisp trigger of obvious high quality.
It extracts and ejects very well.
There is no provision for a thru bolt to mount a stock. however, the barrel bore has been opened up behind were the action is mounted and there may be enough there to thread the hole and mount a thru bolt there?
There are no markings on the barrel or the action.
Has anyone seen a project like this?
Any comments, ideas would be greatly appreciated!!

gwahirAppears to be a vickers martini. It used a one piece stock, like a bolt action. The hole in the rear of the receiver was for a receiver sight. I have not seen one with the action built into the barrel.

npd345Thanks! i will see if I can pull up some pictures of a Vickers martini.
I am trying to picture how to stock this and make it look right.
The barrel has been dovetailed for a front sight and there is a spot were the bluing has been removed to (souder?) a rear sight.

You nailed it!!
I pulled up pictures on the internet and there is no doubt in my mind that this started out its life as a Vickers Martini.
Thanks!!

Heym SR20 http://www.rifleman.org.uk/Vickers_Martini_rifles.htmIt appears that the stock is attached via that front screw - some examples of take down in the above link
