I have a Stevens 44 in a 22lr, that I'm restoring. How many diffrent levers was made for this model? The one I have for this gun has a slot cut down the middle for the extractor. I need to find one in nice shape if anyone has one...I'm looking!
I found one at a gunshow, (didnt have mine with me) it is almost the same but this one has a cut out on the left hand side of the lever.
QUESTION: Will the one I bought fit with a diffrent type extractor (side mount) or do I need to keep looking for a replacement with the center cut lever?
I tried to make this question clear, but I have a feeling it turned to MUD. Maybe a good Stevens single shot person will be able to read between the lines.

Because jmo it has a better cool factor!

Your 44 has a 6 o'clock extractor.
The new lever is for the early 7 o'clock extractor.
The new lever with a new extractor might fit in your action but the new extractor will not fit the barrel. 22rim fire works best with a
6 o'clock extractor.

The orignal lever is a 6 oclock...
The second lever is a 7 oclock...
As i read this its just past 8 oclock...

Thank you for the info, when I talk to someone at least I'll know what to tell them.

I was hopeing someone would chime in that had a 6 oclock lever in nice condition they would be willing to sell or trade for the 7 oclock.

I picked up this rifle knowing the lever was history, didnt know I was going to get this much education on the 44, but thats part of the fun...again thank you for your post, helps clear up the muddy water.
