after several unsuccessful attempts at getting a buddy to part with his pre 64 in 375, I have decided to get one built.
I have acquired a full length Demoulin Mauser action and Truvello are going to barrel it.
I have not yet established if I want to stock it with a composite, laminated or traditional wood stock, the committee is still out on that.
But I do want to know if there is much difference if any in the stock inletting between a magnum Mauser action and the Demoulin action?
I have not seen the two side by side so I am not able to compare.

If you are looking for a drop in I would doubt it. But since most of us work off of Mauser drawings most of the custom actions are similar. The differences are when the manufacturer wants to appear slightly unique. Without having 2 receivers side by side with appropriate measuring instruments, an exact answer is impossible.

I handled one at Safari Club this year and it appeared to be nicely finished.

The magnum Dumoulins I have seen were simply the opened up FNs. The only difference was that the mag box and the opening in the action was lengthened to the front. Regards, Bill.

In former days, Ernest Dumoulin made his magnum actions out of FN stock. Since his Cy. was bought over,a few years ago, Dumoulin magnum actions are manufactured in China according to Dumoulin's spec list.

If I was going to build a real big bore then I wouldn't consider a composit or drop in laminated stock....the one size fits all drop in is bad enough in a standard caliber but in a big bore it multiplys 10 fold...and has no cast off....

I'd go with a nice piece of stright grained Turkish, readily available in RSA...have it turned to my barreled action, by one of the RSA Custom gun builders who are quite good an certainly not expensive...

It is one of the older Demoulin actions.
Ray I tend to agree with your traditional wood feelings, I will be using a nice piece of walnut recently "swopped" with a buddy and having the stock made to fit me.
The couple of bucks extra will be worth it.

you have some very talented stock makers in RSA and they are not expensive by our standards....
