Found a NIB original Buehler safety which is marked (on box) for a Winchester M54. Will this fit a Mauser 98? I have a JC Higgins M50 FN Mauser 98, and would like to put a safety on it, on the "bolt side" (so my jacket doesn't rub it from "SAFE" to "fire."

I tried the newer Timney reproduction version, and it did not lock my bolt (I could lift the bolt open when the safety was on "SAFE").
