?? slicking an action????
a month or so ago, i picked up a whitworth interarms mark x in .458.. date code on the action is 8/90 so its 16+ yrs old... fired very little... the bolt rails are rougher than h%^&ll....while i was at the DRSS shoot, new_guy told me to stone the action to smooth it up and remove tool marks...... ive looked in midway and several other catalogs, but im not having any luck....anybody want to share their source??? with the monsoon season here in south texas, ive been cleaning and polishing... ive been working the bolt from open to close... like 300 or so times....maybe by the time i get to 1k , it'll be better....

MSC has a pretty good selection of stones. There are a couple of Tool and Die suppliers that also have a lot of stones.
The hard part is choosing the correct ones, using them properly and knowing when to stop. After you have removed material from the rough surfaces, you will need to have the parts re-blued.

Look at their moldmaker stones in 320 grit.

MSC carries Gesswein stones, they get the order right more often than Gesswein, their shipping is better and cheaper than Gesswein, and their prices are cheaper than the same stones directly from Gesswein. I use the mouldmaker stones from 150-600 grit, in various shapes and sizes, depending on the task at hand.
