Another Shipping ?
I feel kinda stupid asking this but I have a FFL and do gunsmithing. I had a customer ship me a rifle from another state to rebarrel and now im ready to ship it back to him. My question is cant I ship it back directly to him and not go through another FFL in his state since it is his and what is the prefered method of shipping? Thanks

It's a valid question and one for which you'll receive varying answers.

I suggest you contact your local ATF agent and get a written response from them. Follow the instructions they provide and and keep that response in your file.

You won't get varying answers on this. As an FFL holder, if a customer send you a gun to repair, you can ship it directly back to them. You only need to go through an FFL if the gun is going to be received by a different party in which case the transaction will be handled like a sell.

(D) all of the above. I use UPS for firearms and usually USPS for parts and other small stuff. Make sure you indicate "Adult Signature Required" on the package. Long guns can go ground, handguns have to go overnight.

I've sent firearms to JJ (Champlin) on 2 ocassions and he sent them straight back to me....no worries. both times sent UPS overnight w/adult sig req'd as posted. Works like a charm.

bartsche Is Correct !.

As long as the Long Gun ships too an FFL holder for either factory work or additional personal custom modifications !.; then they are able to send it directly back too the person who shipped it .

How ever an individual can't ship too another individual with out an FFL.

Even if one of the people does custom gun work , they must hold a valid 01 or FFL. in order to be legal as far as shipping is concerned .
