REM 700 ADL
Is it possible to turn a "ADL" into a "BDL"?
Thanks for any input

Yes, but you will need the bottom metal and a new magazine box unless you want to make the original one shorter.

If you also mean the stock, that too can be done with some work.

Thanks Jim, I was just referring to the action. I wasn't sure if holes were the same or if the mag just wouldn't fit.

I just recently shortened an ADL box for a BDL fit and it takes CAREFUL planning otherwise you'll screw it up for sure. It has to fit both the floor plate and the receiver, at the same time.

Probably best to simply buy a new box.

Unless you get lucky on an auction its pretty pricey. OTOH, you can buy Williams steel or stainless bottom metal and have a really nice look; better than factory but still drop-in to a BDL stock.

"Experience" is the only class you take where the exam comes before the lesson.

Au contrire, monsieur!

The magazine and action/bottom metal fit must be close, but should not be so close to bind the two. You should be able to "wiggle" the mag box a tiny bit to ensure there is some relief when it is assembled.
