JORGE011895 Chilean Mauser
Does anyone know if the rear sight slide for an 1895 Chilean Mauser, can be replaced by some other Mauser small or large ring rear sight slide (or other make)?
Thanks.

dpcdRifle or carbine? The sights are different lengths.
The answer is yes, many other sight bands will fit on your barrel. So, it depends on if you just want a sight, leaf, or complete assembly with band, or you want to restore something specific.
I have Mauser sights but first you have to be more specific.
Forget ring size; that means absolutely nothing.

JORGE01Thanks dpcd.
The rifle in question is an 1895 Chilean short rifle, commonly referred as a “Mosqueton ”.
This rifle has the sights set to 1,400 meters and is not the ladder type. It’s missing the rear sight slide.
This is what the sight looks like when complete.

JORGE01 https://www.gunboards.com/thre...user-carbine.240837/The above link has a group of pictures about one third down the page, the next to last has a picture of the sight in question. Click on it to enlarge. Note: it's not the single sight in one of the posts, it's a bit further down.
See Wikipedia on Chilean 1895 short rifle in the Variants section for name "Mosqueton" in Spanish means carbine:

Thanks for your help.

BobsterThat is a Mauser tangent sight. A slider from a 1909 Argentine carbine will work.

dpcdThe 95s have a wide flat sight and a slider from a later model won't work..

Fal GruntThe original contract documentation references
fusiles and
carabinas.
The later carbine barrel was purchased in 1910 from OEWG. FAMAE took rifles and carbines and upgraded it to the newer style tangent sight.
"M95-12-36 as having been the extended carbine that had its 1912 specification sight replaced with a tangent sight in 1936"
Nielsen, David. (2019). History of the Mauser Rifle in Chile: Mauser Chileno Modelo 1895, 1912 and 1935.
A Chilean, Argentine, FN, and most all carbine rear sight slider will work with your rifle.
