Savage Safety Problem

I just picked up a good deal on a Savage 110FP (pre-accutrigger) and am having an issue with the tang safety. It will only engage with the bolt removed. I've owned several of the model 10s and haven't had this issue with them. Anyone know the cause and cure?

My .25-06 shoots 1/4" all day long.....

Did you try adjusting the trigger/safety adjustment screw? Sounds like one of the adjustment screws is set too tight.

I haven't tore into anything yet, Westpac. I just picked the rifle up tonight. Thanks for the info.

My .25-06 shoots 1/4" all day long.....

My initial bet would be a simple adjustment is needed.
