Model 700 feed rails and the RUM
I have had a rifle built on a Remington 700 action based on the 338 RUM necked to 7mm, I have had it for several months now and ran into something during load devlopement. The loaded round will not fit between the feed rails and into the magazine, how much trouble to fix this?? Will the barrel have to be removed?? Thanks for all replys. Tim.

The feed rails will have to be opened up. Normally the gunsmith who does the barrel work takes care of that too. You will also need a RUM magazine box and follower.

If your gunsmith cant do it you might want to reconseder who does your gunwork.

If you want to attempt it your self, send me your address to my email and I will mail you a copy of the dimensions.

Craftsman, this guy is top notch, he warned of feeding problems, I could call him to help but I think this is a new type job with me holding the purse. I won`t make him feel responsible. He had no dies to fireform or anything. I just want to get it fixed. The brass is so close to fitting that I feel a few thousands will put me in business.

Tim in TN, I had a similar problem with a 300 Weatherby on a mauser action. I ended up seating the bullet a little deeper and the thing functioned great. You might try it before you remove any metal

Thanks Crip but the length isn`t the trouble it`s the width.
