arky65REM 722 ACTION AND 700 STOCK
anyone tried this? i just placed a 722 action into a 700 stock and it appears to be almost perfect fit. i'm having 722 action rebarrelled and i want to put a laminate stock on it. i would like to hear from anyone that has tried this.

HunterJimArky,
I have a Remington M721 action in an aftermarket M700 synthetic stock.
The tang sits up higher than the M700 does, but otherwise it fits.

ElaltoThe 700 SA stock will work on the 722 action, you will have to relieve a little for the safety and possibly the bolt handle. I have done several 722 to 700 BDL stock conversions using the 700 bottom metal, mag box, follower and spring works great!
I have never used the 722 bottom metal and parts with an ADL or BDL stock so can't address that.
I really like the smooth 722 actions and the 700 BDL stocks with black fore arm tips they look super!
Good luck,
Marcos (elalto)

<9.3x62>722 has a different bolt hand angle which may cause a bit of an issue. The 722 safety lever is lower and will require that you remove some wood. The 722 tang is a bit wider. BDL bottom metal can be retrofitted, but using the 722 bottom metal is not an option, which is too bad because, IMHO, it is superior to 700 ADL and BDL mag bottoms. The barrel channel will be different, but you said you were rebarelling, so you have some stock work ahead of you anyway I suppose.

arky65hey guys, thanks for your responses. the issues you have addressed are all that i could see. and a little wood work will get it. i'm going to put a boyds laminate stock on this action and having it rebarrrelled to 25/08 with a hart heavy barrel. should be a mean little varmint gun.
thanks again arky65

I did the same project a couple years ago, and i'm extremely pleased. Now the comb is at the proper level for scope use and what a difference in appearance! As was already mentioned, minor inletting is all that's required, mostly in the safety lever area. I used BDL bottom metal and stock.
