glass bedding an older savage 110
I am going to glass bed an older savage 110 this weekend and was hoping for any advice. The rifle has a wood stock with no pillars present. I will be using acraglas gel. I am having a hard time deciding between full length and free floating the barrel. Currently with no bedding in the stock the action locks up when you tighten the action too far down into the stock. I have never bedded a wood stock before, only skim bedded synthetics so anything experiences or ideas would be appreciated.
Thanks,

I milled out an elaborate one piece Aluminum V block bedding for a Sav110, and then bedded it in a synthetic.

Way too much work.

IMO, round-bottom actions like the 110 are best bedded using pillars. It is not essential, but it is better. I prefer to free-float the barrels, only bedding the first 1.5" - 2" of barrel shank.
