Michael,

Very nice looking work. Can you provide any more information, such as the steel used, actions these are made for, and price?

Regards, Wayne E.

Mike,

Nice looking bases, however, doesn't the presence of the stops at opposing ends contradict the need for QD rings?

i was wondering the same thing, do you have the rear base on backward?

I think it looks good, everything tapers towards the ejection port with no interference over the port. Shayne

Sorry guys, I should have posted more info up front, but time got in the way.

Question # 1. These bases are made for Win M 70 with .830" hole spacing front and back. Also made for Rem. 700 standard spacing. They are made from 12L11 instead of 12L14 because I could not get that in the right size without paying a premium. This is still a very good material for this item, and they blue and polish very well - easy to engrave.

I am just bringing these to the general market, they have previously only been sold with my custom rifles. I have initialy priced retail at $65.00 blued with torx screws. Will have dealer disc. and possibly others as well. They do require more time on CNC than most people think.

#2 The Q.D. levers DO WORK, They just require more revolution. I have not found a bolt rifle yet that they will not detach from. The system initially was developed to allow short bodied scopes to achieve proper eye relief and ejection port clearance.

Sorry I didn't catch this post sooner! Great looking bases.

Michael, are you making the rings also or are they made by someone else?

Do you have the capabalility to make any of the bases in stainless?

Thanks in advance.

Michael,

Do the rings slide on to the bases, or just 'drop' on? If they slide on, then is one of the bases on backwards?

The rings are Talley's.

Like Chuck said, the rings are Talley's. And like Talley's own bases, they are a drop-on. I have not found a set of "slide on" bases to be "beyond all doubt" dependable. The reason I created these bases is for compact or short bodied scopes to be mounted without extension rings on long actions. And nothing shouts "custom" quite like an ejection port framed with a custom base set. I still have not had enough interest in stainless to make a run of bases, but it would be no problem.

I am currently working on a prototype set for FN or Mauser in "square bridge" styleing.

Michael-

What would be the minimum production run necessary for you to consider a run of stainless?

I suppose I could take a chrome moly set of bases and have them plated if I needed a "silver" finish. Would that not work?

Mark, I just ran a batch of bases in chrome-moly and won't be setting up fixtures and tooling until I run low again. At that point, all I need is stainless and the numbers won't matter. I have no way of knowing when my next run will be. sorry [Frown] I would suggest plating if it will work for you.
