Colt Diamondback specialist?
My Colt Diamondback is VERY MUCH in need of re-timing. Does anyone know of a 'smith who specializes in Colt Revolvers?

TIA

Well, Colt really isn't the best place to send this particular model. They sold all their Diamondback parts about 15 years ago. At least that's what they told me when I called them on the phone about it last year. That's why I asked here.

Apparently no-one knows of any skilled revolver mechanics who specialize in Colt firearms, if the number of responses I've gotten is any indication. Guess I'll try re-subscribing to American Handgunner.....

Thanks anyway,

The Python and the Diamondback are similar. A number of years ago I traded a Combat Commander for a Python. After working with the Python for a few hundred rounds, the timing and the cylinder bolt was off. The pawl/hand was a bit worn/short and the cyclinder bolt was rounded and thin. Both of these conditions contributed to sloppy cyclinder lock up, the pawl and the cylinder bolt.
Bob's Gunshop in Norfolk, Va. was a factory repair shop. I think it was on Granby Street. Any way Bob's also had the parts. So I got an oversized cylinder bolt, too thick to fit through the window in the bottom of the frame. And a oversized pawl/hand, this was a bit too long and a bit wide to take up some side to side play.
I spent several evenings polishing and fitting these two parts to the frame. Using a Washita hard stone it's takes forever to actually remove metal, gives a grand finish though.
I've been pleased with my Python ever since.

Thanks...will try to contact them. Sorry for the slow reply. Woke up one morning a little over a week ago unable to see, or use my left hand. Spent some not too nice hospital time. Am now recovering...slowly. Hope to be back handloading, rebarreling various toys, and shootingagain, soon. Thanks again.

Over on another thread I suggested you try Cylinder and Slide. They are in Fremont, Nebraska.

Albera Canuck,
This is a little untimely, but here's wishing you a speedy recovery.

Thanks very much. Making progress. Left hand now works fine. Vision good enough to drive with and operate my lathe. New sets of glasses on order and eye medication used faithfully. Hopefully will be able to drive to NMex for my son's wedding in 5 weeks.
