I am kinda fond of the weatherby Ultralite 6 lug action.It has features that I like over a rem700(integ.Bhandle,integ.Rlug,better safety, and sleeker design overall).
But, I am not crazy over the Weath stock design. Looking at the dimensions of the reciever, it is of very similar dia. to one of MelForbes NULA rifles.
Do you think the Weath. would reasonably fit,with abit of work, into one of his(model 24/28) stocks?

Seems I read somewhere Mel was beginning to fit his stocks to other rifles. Just call him and ask. Regualr price for a drop-in for my Colt was $450 two or three years ago.

I have one of the new Mark V Ultralight's. It has a scaled 9-lug action. It's width is identical to the Remington 700, (this was measured to make sure the bases I wanted would fit). The action size itself is very nearly the old Varmintmaster, but it does have the 9 lugs instead of the 6 found on the Varmintmaster.

I spoke with Brown Precision about one of their "Pounder" stocks, and they confirmed the action wasn't as big as a standard Mark V (and Brown doesn't inlet a stock to fit this one, but they do the Mark V standard).

I couldn't get Bansner to return 2 phone calls placed 2 weeks apart, nor return any of the 3 emails I sent.

I shipped the rifle down to Lone Wolf stocks for one of their "Summit" series stocks. I just could not live with the stock that come from the factory. I didn't like the way it fit me and it weighed in at 33 ounces, much too heavy for an "ultralight" rifle in my opinion, about 12-16 ounces too much.

How do you like the Lone Wolf stock? I had a Browing A-Bolt left hand in 270WSM done by Lone Wolf and I think they did a very good job. I am not sure it is as lite as they advertise as I have never removed the stock since receiving it from them.

I haven't received it yet. I sent the rifle to them for bedding. It'll be a while before I get it back.
