Degreaser
What do you guys use for a degreaser? I just picked up a used rifle and it looks like the previous owner used 90W rear end grease to keep it lubricated! What can I use to cut this thick stuff without damaging blueing, or any other finishes or components?

TIA,
Bob

Bob,

You might try Birchwood Casey Gun Scrubber. It is very strong degreaser.

I use hot water and lots of Simple Green and scrub it with a old toothbrush. Gets it so degreased, the metal might start to rust immediately. Simple green is cheap, non toxic, and it comes in lemon scent too!

Another useful solvent for cutting crap is plain old kerosene.
