two position mauser safety take down
Gents:
Have a 2-position Chapman I think on a 98 bolt. Is there an easy way to take the bolt down?

Tomk,
Its not real easy.Take the bolt and clamp the sear, on the cocking piece,in a vise.Grab the shroud and pull on it until it clears the cocking piece, than insert a dime, or someother similar object, between the cocking piece and the bolt shroud. This will allow you to back out the firing pin assembly.I hope this is clear.

Thats OK if money is no object. I just use a penny. Wink

Thank-you Gentlemen, for the financial advice. It certainly would be easier than the way I was doing it and a lot easier on my hands to boot.

The two position safety kinda compromises field stripping doesn't it? Smiler

I do not resemble any semblence to know what the hell I am doing trying to do this. Any volunteers to e-mail me a pic or two?

Thanks.
