Pre 64 Model 70 Magnum Value?
Have an opportunity to buy what I believe is a transition Model 70 action that came from an original .300 Win Mag. Looks to be in great shape, everything is there. Told it was rechambered to a 300 Weatherby later in life, can get the whole rifle if I want.

I'm not a magnum guy so have no idea what the value of one of these is. Obviously with the rechamber it's not a collector, but would like to hear what it's value might be.

Thanks in advance.

I don't think the transition models were ever chambered in 300 Win Mag. It was probably a 300H&H originally. Does it have the safety lever on the outside right of the shroud?

A transition gun would have been a 300 H&H. 300 Win mags are a standard length ejection/loading port. It's probably worth $600 to $900 depending on overall condition. Guys seem to ask $700-$800 just for a bare full mag action but I've always been able to find whole rifles for less than that. LOTS of 300 H&Hs were converted to 300 wby. Too bad because the H&H is a great performer too.
