Win (FN) Mod 70 Extractor
Are the extractors on the new Win Mod 70s Cast? If so, if tempered properly is cast as reliable as the original carbon steel extractors?

If they are cast and heat treated correctly they will be the same in terms of reliability and I [present Ruger extractors as an example; investment cast and very tough.

I've looked at quite a few of them and they sure don't seem to be...now the bolts are another matter, I believe those are cast. Even so, they seem cleaner and better than the old model 70's.

Nope, they aren't cast. They are machined from bar stock. In fact, they are Williams extractors. I ordered a couple of Williams to replace the cast ones on a few New Haven's. They were an exact match to the extractors that came on my FN's, numbers and all. Good move on FN's part. Now if they would only do away with that MOA trigger and go back to the original.

My ttwo late new haven guns has williams extractors as well. I thought the earlier ones were sintered which was part of the problem, or so they said...
