DavidCchecking the bore
I am considering the purchase of a couple used firearms and want to check the bores before I commit. The problem is one is a muzzle loader & the other a Rem. 760 pump gun.
I suppose the dental mirror & flash light would be okay for the 760...but I am not real keen on that option.....
What would you recommend to get a good look at the bores on these 2 firearms?
Any decent
yet not to expensive bore scopes out there....?
Best,
Dave

WestpacWell, unless you can pull the breech plug, you pretty well have to go with your gut and a good light on the muzzle loader. The good news is it's a muzzle loader so the expectations for pin point accuracy is not very high.
The 760 you can pull the barrel, or, insert a piece of white paper into the ejection port and use that as a reflector. Check the crown for damage while you are at it as most people clean it from that end.

DuaneinNDAlso check for a bulge under the front sight, very common on 740, 760 etc. Many are drilled to deep for barrel dia.

DavidCThanks for the recommendations.
I'll give each rifle a good looking over and go from there......

rodger wrightThey make a light for muzzle loaders that you turn on and drop down the barrel (kind of a light green light) allows you to observe the condition of the bore, could maybe use on the 760 by opening the bolt and sliding it in with light aimmed down thw bore.

DavidCrodger,
That sounds about perfect!
Any idea of where I can get one or the brand name of this light?
