leveractionAm trying to get the action out of the stock. I have done it before but has been a while, the small piece in the very back and on top of action is what I can't get off. I can't remembe if the back tips up or the front of it tips back.'

ElmerI think the whole unit lifts up from the front if you pull the bolt back and then lift up you should find a point where the barreled receiver will lift out
elmer.

SD ShooterYou should be aware that if you take the Winchester Model 100 apart, you will have to send it back to Winchester to have their magician put the spell back own it. And of course, since Winchester is closing, you may have to find a local witch doctor to do the deed.
Seriously, it should be done by a gunsmith who is trained and experienced with the Model 100. There are several hidden pins that will release springs that will definitely take flight and disappear.
Good luck.

Chuck WhiteThe following directions are from
Firearms Assembly 3, put out by the NRA.
Step 2:
To separate action from stock, remove magazine assembly, unscrew forearm swivel screw and guard screw.
Pull cocking lever all the way back and hold in this position.
Grasp forearm and push barrel up, pivoting rear of receiver against recoil block and lift action up out of stock.
Hope this info helps you!
