Old Greener is doubling
Just back from Africa and part of the trip was guinea fowl and dove with an old Greener 12 gauge SxS that I've owned and shot for 7 or 8 years. I love that shotgun. However, on day 3 it started firing both barrels when either trigger was pulled. When it Did it 4 times out of 10, I put it up.

Gunsmith suggestions?

Yessir. Both hammers cocked, best as I can tell, every time. I did test that, by the way.

Really I'm mostly looking for a recommendation as to a gunsmith to work on this nice old shotgun.

Aaron Little monkeys with those fine, double, hammer banger guns all the time. If memory serves, he moved not so long ago and is in Mineola, Texas. I think he has a website and Facebook page. You could ask him what he would charge to refit the sears and stop it from blowing your chickens to pieces.

His query window opens as soon as you go to his Facebook page. Ask him, see what he says, he's not cheap, good stuff seldom is.

When I was a kid. I had the stick. I had the rock. And I had the mud puddle. I am as adept with them today, as I was back then. Lets see today's kids say that about their IPods, IPads and XBoxes in 45 years!

Thanks, I will do so !!!!

The double barrels at once was hard at both ends of the spectrum ! Had a distinctive ring to it. Then the whining began...

No doubt the whining noise subsided a bit, but not entirely, after the second barrel was left, un-cocked until the first barrel had been fired?

Actually it was the shooter that was doing the whining !

Pretty good jolt when both full power loads go off at once. Almost hurt my feelings!
