Jim KobeNo, the pin that secures them in place are not in the same location. If you are looking for one, the Marlin bolt gun ones can be fitted

deverethanks Jim. How about the sleeve locks on the post 64s? Same as the pre-64s?

Jim KobeI am not sure but would assume they are

dpcdYes they are but might require minor fitting. Pre 64 Winchesters are not the precise pieces of workmanship that many think. They were made on worn out, single station mechanical machinery with hand fitting required. Especially post WW2.
I fitted one last fall that had fallen out. A bolt sleeve lock on a pre 64 I mean.

J WisnerThe pre 64 sleeve lock is much like the shape of the Springfield 1903, simply a 45 degree angled surface that a small flat tip engages the notch in the one section of the bolt handle root.
The later post 64 sleeve lock, I started to see a change in the outside shape/angle in the late 80"s and by the early 90's they had gotten rid of the angle and went to a more longer radius outside shape. I was told this was to make the bolt smoother during operation.
The Marlin MR7 and its sons uses that same pre 64 sleeve lock shape, but I have noticed that the tip seems to be about .020" longer than the pre 64 and yes will require some minor fitting.

Bob NisbetI had to make a couple of pre-54 Model 70 bolt sleeve keepers.
Had a custom mill cutter made and fabricate parts, that were a perfect fit.
Prior to replacement parts, the sleeves would release by themselves.
I would be interested in selling the mill cutter.
