Who is good in Iowa?
I've recently moved to Iowa and I have a .30-06 M70 Featherweight that needs a bedding job to free-float the barrel, although I shouldn't complain, it took two mule deer for me last weekend. It's shooting in the 1.75-1.5 range and it has shot better in the past. I think rebedding will help, but I don't know of any good, reputable gunsmiths here in Iowa, I live in the Mason City/Cedar Falls/Ames/Des Moines area, that meaning that I'm less than two hours from any of these cities. Thanks for your help, if any of you reply that are gunsmiths in Iowa, don't be afraid to too your horn!

If it was a single shot, I could help you, but this is Iowa, and bolt action centerfires are about as useful here as spare tires on roller skates. So, finding a good smith for a generic gun is pretty tough. I would call JLM gunshop in West DSM, see what they can do or suggest. They are the best shop on the I35 strip this side of MSP.

Good point Brent, I hadn't thought about that aspect of the request. I hate this no rifles law, although it gives me a good excuse to buy an Encore, which I am in the process of. I'll still apply for tags back in SD as a non-resident and hunt with the family, maybe I should just leave the .30-06 with a good smith up there, I know of a few.
