Has there been any outline as to what their role is?...what their value to either the customer or the businessman...(smith)???

Or is this a social club that just wants your cash?

They've sent me solicitations for membership and I'm infamous for screwing up my home gunsmithing jobs. Any gunsmithing organization that would allow me to join is not one you want to belong to.

Looks pretty basic to me. Not that I'm an expert or anything, infact far from it, but still the overview looks like pretty basic stuff.

Guess I'll keep on doing what I have always done with it.

It’s like AARP... discounts on certain goods and services and a newsletter with gun articles and ads.

If you order anything from Brownells you will get a card advertising AGA in the stack of junk they stuff in the box.

I joined the AGA just to see what they had to offer. I was interested in starting a State Gunsmithing Association in North Carolina simular to the Custom Gun Makers Guild but have a political action committee also.
Back to the AGA the literature they sent was very basic and looked to be about 40 years old. As for the discounts they do trip my trigger either. The insurance for the little guy is fne no better tha you can negotiate on your own.
As for the monthly news letters they border on marginal and are no better than what I get from Brownells.
I found the publication is published in the northeast and the head man is in Florida. when I made my contct I got the feeling they really did not want to get involved in the political issues facing gunsmiths.

I would like to see an active organization of skilled artisans working toward protecting the profession, insuring it's continued as a part of our herritage, and a professional trade show.
The AGA management did not seem to be interested when I talked with them.
