perry1.070" of free bore
How dangerous would this be? A bullet literally travels 1" from chamber to start of lands/rifling.
Rifle is a m98 in 7x57.
Or is it not dangerous at all? I'm not asking if it's practical or accurate, just dangerous.

dpcdIt is the opposite of dangerous; it is safer. It effectively, increases your case to bore size expansion ratio.
As long as you aren't asking about accuracy, I won't mention that it is a bad thing. I did not mention that.

jplI saw a 220 swift barrel that had about 5 inches of free bore. It was well used in the varmint fields.

StonecreekTo whatever extent that overly generous freebore might create accuracy problems, it may be dangerous to bystanders of your target, but not otherwise.
