MileHighShooterWhich is the better choice?
There are 2 actions at the LGS I am considering as using for a base for building a 416 Ruger. There is a Ruger 77 and FH, both are 7mm Mag currently. Ruger is 350, FN is 399 (but also comes with a scope I could use on another rifle, cheapy but hey its glass)
This is the old tang safety Ruger BTW. Both come with rings, and both rifles look to be in good shape, action wise.
Which direction should I be heading??

Jim KobeMe? I would jump on the FN

ramrod340I would go with the FN. Nothing really wrong with the Ruger. I just happen to prefer CRF.

Idaho SharpshooterMHS,
Ruger: it is, but it isn't...
Jut buy the FN and go happy.

BuliwyfThe tang safety Ruger is a push feed with a claw extractor. The FN is a true Mauser CRF.
The new Ruger M77 MKII's and Hawkeye are true CRF actions.
The tang safety Ruger M77 is a fine action.
I'd buy both rilfes. Good prices, great rifles. Good stuff is hard to come by.

SWDThe FN is a much higher quality action than the Ruger.
