How scope adjustment works
Does anyone know where you can find online schematics of the internal construction of scopes showing how the aiming adjustment mechanism works?

A fellow on here in a discussion of old Weaver steel tube scopes said "The only time I ever saw a weaver scope fail was when I was a kid and took one apart to see what the cross hairs were made of................Very delicate wire!"

I know it doesn't answer your question but maybe it gives you an idea.

As a general rule, people are nuts!

Howard, picture a small tube within a larger tube. The small tube contains the crosshair. The adjustment screw is just that, a screw that bears against one side of the small tube with a spring of some type on the opposite side. I would imagine that scopes of higher quality, or more modern, than the one I've taken apart have a higher quality mechanism. You know, better quality springs and adjusment screws. Wink

This is an okayIllustration, but it helps get the idea across. Burris also has a few diagrams on their website.
