Roland1What to choose?
What to choose for a new 375 H&H Project. Winchester Pre-64 Model 70 action.
Mauser - 98 style action such as Granite Mountain.
Which are the Pros and Cons of these 2 actions?Thank you,
Roland

M1TankerWhen I started my custom 375 I chose a 1909 Arg Mauser. I think they are exceptionaly nice. The Mausers require a lot of work but make the classiest rifles in my opinion. I have no experience with any of the top end commercial Mausers like Granite Mountain. They do come with all the work already done which is a plus.
I do reccomend that you go with a standard length action instead of a Magnum action. I have a couple CZ 550 Safaris and love them, but they are huge actions. As are the magnum Mauser actions I have seen. The standard action makes for a much niver handling rig.
The M70 is a nice action. If I was building a 375 on one I would go with Blackburn bottom metal, and add a Orbendorf style bolt handle.
Good luck in your project.

vapodogSpend the winter going to gunshows and find a .375 length whitworth (comm '98 Mauser) gun.
Salvage as you wish but those actions are excellent material for a custom .375 H&H.
