Wonder if it would be possible for a pistol to be made the same as the Berretta blow back/inertia shotgun?

Thanks...I asked because I had an opportunity to shoot a Hi-Point 45 ACP and was expecting it to either blow up or shoot minute of barn, or both. The gun shot so well that I overcame my fear/prejudice and bought one to test it in my lab and see what makes it tick.

Now, I do not LIKE this pistol, but it now has me rethinking design...it is heavy, but not too heavy for target work. It digests everything, including some 28,000 psi handloads designed to cause problems. With sights on the frame and bbl, rather than the slide, there is no question that it will shoot 2 inches at 25 yards (a laser did).

So, suppose someone usd this TYPE of design to make a quality target piece for $500, instead of the $125 that I paid? I can't imagine that one could get higher scores with any of the $2000 competition handguns out there.

The H&K P7 line of pistols is gas delayed blowback operated. They eliminate most of the complicated problems of other semi-autos. They will also eject fired rounds with the extractor removed. They made a prototype in .45 ACP, but I don't think it has been brought to market, although a .40 S&W was.
