Shot first gun I rebarreled.
I shot my first gun I rebarelled today. It's a FN 1922 short action, that I put a .308 barrel on that I bought for $25. It was prechambered for .308, I measured a couple action's I had and the FN was a perfect match. I only paid $40 for the FN, so this is a $65 rifle, mounted it in the orginal stock, and it only weighs 6 pounds 12 ounces. Didn't have a scope on it, so I just test fired 3 rounds of Federal .308 180gr, shoots fine brass looks good, steel buttplate has a little kick to it.

Thats so cool,I hope to put together a 35 whelen soon, I have several 98 mauser's that I am evaluating, I want to keep one in 8x57, and rechamber one in the whelen. I have everything needed, except the extra time. Good luck and good shooting.

So, did you tie the gun to the rifle rest and then run a string tied to the trigger from the bench to behind a wall like I did the first time I barrelled an action or did you just shoot the thing from your shoulder?

I just put it to my shoulder and went bang. I had measured, double checked everything, I was sure it wouldn't blow up.
