Custom Checkered Bolt Handles???
Friends-

Who besides Jerome Glimm specializes in checkering and engraving bolt handles?

I have a couple of Jerome's handles and they are top notch. I was thinking of branching out a bit. I realize that it is a small niche.

Thanks in advance.

Mark,

Are you wanting to see pictures or do you want info on how to checker bolt handles. I have been making my own for a long time. I'll try to send info if this is what you need.

This is a bolt handle which I show in my engraving info on the USB drive.

Most people would rather have the bolt knob engraved and then weld onto the bolt body. It is much harder to cut one welded on. The angles are to hard cut and get around the knob with the bolt body. I use a checkering file from Brownell's to use as a guide for the spacing of the lines very faint on the knob. Then use gravers of 90 degree to cut the lines.

I am retired, but I will see if we can find someone to do this for you.

I learned bolt welding from A L Knight Sr in Ft Worth Tx. He altered bolt handles for the old Stith Scopes company of San Antonio. They were all done by Act. Torch back then. This was in the 30's and 40's when almost all bolts had to be aftered for a scope. I started in 1964 working for Knights Gun Store and done all of the bolts after that time.
