RollandFront sight height
I am working on putting a cocking piece sight on a rifle and have been trying to figure the front sight height.
The rear sight is .948 above the bore center line. the muzzle measures .595. as near as I can figure the front sight needs to be .671 above the center line. Does this make sense???
I am going to use the NECG adjustable ramp so that gives me .030 more adjustment.
It seems simple to figure out but its driving me nuts

Don MarkeyThat would make the front about .020 above the rear. But wouldn't you want the front at of below the rear to comp. for bullet drop? There is a sight heigth calculator on brownells website. It's for regular irons, but you could play around with it to see if the above the bore theory is right.
.595/2=.2975
.948-.2975=.6505 front sight height minus bullet drop at desired sight zero range??
