corditeInstallation of cocking piece sight on Mauser
I have a great old Husqvarna/FN rifle in 9.3x62 and a mint lyman cocking piece peep sight. I think putting them together would be wonderful! The rifle bolt would not have to be dovetailed as the sight comes with the dovetailed cup to fit over the back of the mauser bolt. Two screws into the back of the bolt would hold the cup on. I know the bolt is probably super hard. I read somewhere that the end of the bolt needs to be annealed before drilling the holes. I suppose it could be sweated on but I sure don't want it coming off on a hunt.
Anyhow I'm looking for someone who could do this job right. Its not a big job but I bet it would be easy to screw it up! Any advice would be appreciated!

my father-in-law is having one done at griffin & howe.
I found the sight he's using, and gave it to him; the ring had solder on it- I suspect the screws index the ring on the cocking piece, and then it is soldered, also.
just a guess from looking at mine.

N. GarrettI got one of Rusty's cocking piece sights in the mail Friday....awesome!
This absolutely the best rear sight for the money going.
This one is going on my 500 Jeffery in a Mauser action.
I'll post pictures when I'm done.
Garrett

I like the looks too,,I assume they drop down for use with a scope?

zimbabweThey are fixed not hinged. Not for use with a scoped rifle. I suppose he could add a hinge but that would necessitate the sight being farther to the rear. Mine is going on a 375 for strictly iron use. However the Integral rib on my barrel has been cut for Ruger rings so I can use a scout scope. The action is an old Westley Richards and I didn't want to modify the original Mauser bolt handle.
Rusty- Just curious, what is the screw hole for on the left side?

Marc_StokeldAre yall putting a plunger in the cocking piece to be sure it rests in close to the same place each time the bolt is cycled?
How does the rifle group with the sight compared to being use with scope or irons on the same rifle?
Thanks!
