Ashley make one Toys For Big Boys in South Australia is the importer. There supposed to be the best.

You got your self a 45/70 mate ?? I have the normal 22" pistol grip marlin 45/70 I have a compact 2.5x leupold on it in warne fixed mounts. I would like to add a guide gun to my collection though.

Bakes, one option is Wild West Guns in AK. Their sights are not exactly cheap, but the quality is good. I have a set of these sights on my M1895 in 45-70.

Williams now makes a peep sight for the marlin that is mounted on top of the reciever (wgrs 336) I think, Go to brownells and that is were I got mine and I love it Also get a twighlight aperature for it. Greg

I have the Ashley or now XS Sights version, I like it a lot better than the Williams. Brownells sells the kit which includes a new front sight for $90 retail. You can also order direct from XS.

Wild West Guns, Anchorage Alaska makes one. They're available through Brownell's or Midway.

Get a receiver sight, lyman , williams, etc. Remove the eyepiece disk. Jack O'Conner was advocating this 60 years ago.

I got a set of the Ashley Outdoors sights on my Guide Gun and find them excellent, I also have the Scout mount with a tasco propoint, as PC suggested, Big Boys Toys is the go, you wont look back, ive even used the peep sight for spotlighting and even then they are excellent.
They cost about $180, but might be cheaper now with the weakened green back, bought mine a couple of years ago.

PC no its not mine. Its a friend of a friend who bought it off a friend (follow that ) He didn't like the scope (A Lynx) on it and I suggested a ghost ring. I'll let him know about toys for big boys.

Bakes in all honesty I do not reckon you can go past a 2.5x compact leupold on a 45/70 there the ducks nuts, put it in a set of warnes and your good to go. I can shoot good groups with that combo, and it pefroms great for close running game as well.

I originally placed an Ashley Ghost ring sight on my 1895G. It had the .230 aperture, and was just too hard for me to get any kind of accuracy with past 40-50m. I switched to a Williams FP sight, and I love it. It's not as clean looking as the Ashley (now XS Sight Systems), but I really like using it.

Check EBay, there are always sights on there for sale.

I'd love a Leupold but the price puts me off a bit. Actually I quite like the Lynx. The scope on the gun is a 1.25-4.5x26 and its like looking through a picture window. My hunting mate Gary has a red dot (not my cup of tea) on his 45-70 and does very well at the short ranges that we shoot pigs up here.
