M-14 replacement stock

Where can I find a good replacement stock for an M-14? Synthetic, laminate, or wood. It needs to have a higher cheek piece. The issue stock can't get my eye even close to the irons or scope. Thanks..............C

The "traditional" fix,is a lace on leather pad. The best fix is a McMillan,with adjustable cheek...................

Try www.fredsm14stocks.com , but they seem to be a little busy right now, so don't hold your breath. Fred says composite is "hands down" the best stock that you can put on your M14/M1A.

I'm surprised that the stock is too low for the open/service sights. You WILL need some kind of spacer to use optical sights, as Big Stick suggested. When I tried using a scope without the spacer, I felt like I was shooting an unlimited benchrest gun - just looking through the scope while holding my head above the stock, very unusual feeling. You can buy the lace on/velcro pad, or make a spacer out of a number of suitable materials.

The stock is pretty much a piece of trash. That is why I didn't go with the lace on yet. I wanted to find a good looking stock with a good cheek piece integral, kill two birds with one stone.......Thanks......C

I purchased two camo synthetic stocks with matching handguards from Fred's. They are extremely tough stocks and they look pretty good.

Since I am using ARMS #18 scope mounts, I do not need a cheek piece, but if you do, Beartooth makes a very nice kit.

I have never handled an M1A or M14 where the height of the issued stock wasn't adequate to use the iron sights.

I purchaced a camo synthetic from Fred's and it is tight, awesome fit. I think it was $85. for Tigerstripe camo stock and guard painted together.

I have an ARMS #18 mount too. I can, and do currently use it with no cheek piece, but I'm not real happy with the 'jaw weld' I have to use.I need to stick a cheek pad on there, but it might mess up my pretty camo job :-/
