Dago RedCommemorative 30-06 rifle dreams??
All right guys, next year is 06, seems an anniversary year if I remember right. What plans, real or dream, do you guys have for commemorating it? Special rifle purchase or modifications? I am getting ready to dream up a 1903 Springfield commemorative, not true to any Griffin and Howe. I'm thinking the great action in the great cartridge, but with some updates.
Dream guys, dream, and share them!

Jim_DubellSuch A Deal I Got For You!!
Go to the American Custom Gunmakers Guild site and look at the auction rifle this year...Kind of a double anniversary thing. 70th anniversary for the Winchester Model 70 along with the 100th anniversary of the 30-06. I'm thinkin' might be tough to find one like this for less than $20 (the cost of a ticket on it)

z1rDelays more than anything have led to the anticipated completion of my .30-06 project in spring '06. I just may have to have Roger Kehr commemorate the anniversay of the '06 when he engraves the caliber.

54JNollI am ahead of you too. I already have my Springfield Model of 1903 in 30-06 in its final stages.
Jim Dubell did some fabulaous metal work on it. Roger did some work on the bolt handle and will be doing some more work on it. And Chic is doing the stock.
This project suffered some unfortunate delays. However, the waiting will be well worth it upon delivery.

Dago RedWell, I have a big bore project on hold, that $$ doesn't seem as good an idea as getting a CZ550 off the shelf considering how often I'll shoot it in comparison to a medium bore. I am thinking instead of spending the money on something like this. Already have the rifle, just need to dream up what to do with it, and then spend the money before my wife has a kid in June

I am thinking a Biesen pattern stock and some little flourishes from Scrollcutter, leather covered pad and nice clean looking sling studs. Maybe even open sights, who knows with a rifle I could use for 40 years I might need the irons at some point. Maybe the Wisner copy of the pre-64 458 safari sight which is much more practical than non adjustable rear sights. hinged floorplate.
Not that I won't buy tickets for the ACGG rifle too!

craigsterI put together a 95th year commemorative of the Springfield!

pachydermReally it would seem something in a 95 Winchester would be in order since that was the first commercially available '06.

Tex21Dago,
I'm trying to complete the 30-06 I've been working on on and off for the last couple years. Though I dropped it off yesterday for metal finishing, I may be lucky to have 'er done by '06.
Still...I'll have my first 30-06
by 2006 (sometime or another). Does that count?

The cost of the bulino scene will depend on the looks of the model I will need you to provide.
