Savage 99 stocks
I found a wonderful little 99 in 308 (internal rotary magazine) with great metal finish and a crap stock (must be our envirement here in the desert, damn near all wood guns look like hell here).

$600 for the gun.

Who makes a good serviceable fiberglass or laminate stock?

Prefer monte carlo.

Have no clue on the fiberglass or laminate. Boyd's has a wood replacement.

As usual just my $.02

I think MPI makes a composite stock for the 99

Composite stock on a savage 99? I love synthetic stocks, but I could never bring myself to putting one on such a classic rifle. It would be like putting 20" spinners on a 57' Chevy. Find some nice walnut and bring it back to its old glory.

I agree, but since the 99 is prone to stock breakage due to the thin rear walls, if you are actually going to hunt with one, it would be a shame to break a nice old original stock. So getting a plastic stock just for usage in the field is not a totally bad idea. Or get a laminated one from Boyds; better option than plastic.

For just a functional piece of wood the Boyds can't be beat.

I wouldn't cut a semi for that price then you would need to add the cost of wood.
