Shaping Faux Ivory Grips
Hey Gentleman, installing some faux ivory grips (I think they are Ajax brand) on a new stainless vaquero. They are going to need some shaping to fit it nice and smooth. How do you all do this? real fine sandpaper and a block? then what do you use to polish it out afterwards?

Thanks

You can rough them in with a cource bastard file, then go to sand paper. As this is on a stainless gun you can cut the stainless grip frame too, to give the grips that "grown there look". For final polish, take the grips and the stainless up through 400 grit emery paper then use a soft buffing wheel with white rouge to give it the final high luster finish. Go easy with the pressure on the wheel, its possable to heat the grips enough to melt/burn them.
