I have a commercial Husky from the 1940's that was originally an 8x57 but has had a 6.5x55 barrel installed and apparently no change to the bolt face. Is there a looming problem I'll have someday with this given the difference in case head dimensions?
It seems to shoot, feed and extract well, ejection of the spent case is adequate but not with authority. Anyone have any comments on whether or not this will be an issue?

As long as it is functioning fine, I wouldn't worry about it. As long as it was headspaced correctly and factory brass fits in the bolt face, there shouldn't be a problem.

The difference is a whopping 0.006" in diameter.
The Swede also has a slightly thicker rim at the rear of the sxtractor groove, but again, this isn't critical.

FWIW when the swede finally because a domestic sporting caliber with factory ammunition available from Federal, Remington, Winchester and Hornady the ammunition manufacturers adopted "standard" 0.473" case head dimensions for the brass.

This smaller headed brass functions fine in my 1943 Husky
though some Remingtons have "issues" if you feed them 0.479 headed ammunition.

Basically? Don't worry about it.
