Speaking of black walnut
I've got a nice chunk of black walnut that a friend gave me. It's just about the right size for one or two sets of grips for my S&W mod 25s.
Any one got a suggestion as to who could do the carving of the grips?

Try Collins Craft http://www.inventorscolony.com/collinscraftgrips/ He makes some of the best looking S&W grips I have seen, especially if you are looking for factory type grips. Otherwise you might try BLU MAGNUM grips, but not sure if they will use customer wood. Hope this helps.

Jim,

If you know someone who is really good with a band saw you can have them cut you some nice flat backed pieces and you can make your own without that much trouble and by just using hand tools. Starting out with really square and flat backed pieces is the tricky part.

Thank you both.
I've give the two outfits a try and if that doesn't work I'll do the bandsaw trick.
