Wood Varmint Stock for Sprgfld '03?
I've got a Rock Island (high #) 1903 Springfield action with an Atkinson Barrel Company .458 Win Mag barrel fitted to it by Paul Marquart.

Barrel is presently 1.2" diameter from stem to stern, but am about to profile it.

Don't want to spend a full week or two making a stock from a blank as I used to in the 50's-60's, so...

Does anyone know of a supplier for either semi-inletted or drop-in stocks for the Springfield '03 that have enough wood in the forend to accept a varmint-weight barrel?

Even better would be a semi-inletted blank that could be easily altered to Mannlicher style. I really would like to build about an 18" or 19" barreled Mannlicher carbine out of this barreled action, and mount a Lyman Alaskan on it so that the ocular lens sits just in front of the bolt handle.

I used to have a friend in Phoenix who used nothing but such rifles (also in .458 WM) for all his hunting in Arizona and would like to put one together like his solely for the fun of it. He once took Pete Brown out on a hunt on the Mogollon Rim just to show him you could find a buck peeking around from behind a tree and shoot him THROUGH the tree with such a rig. Did it, too! Pete wrote the hunt up in Sports Afield, as I recall.

Anyway, would appreciate any guidance on finding a good semi or fully inletted blank.

Thanks
