Cost to rechamber
I am thinking of having a 223 rechambered to 22-250. What is the average price for this work? are there any particular problems associated with this change? What questions etc.. should I ask the gunsmith when I discuss this with him.

If it is just a standard bolt gun, it may not be worth the $$ to just rechamber. You'll have to open the bolt face and change or modify the box so it will feed.

You'd be financially better off to trade guns.

I have a Savage 110 in 30-06 that I am going to use as a switch barrel setup. The 22-250 and the 06 share the same bolt face. I will only be using the 22-250 at the range to punch paper. I will sinlge load each round and am not going to modify the magazine etc.. I have an exisitng 1:9 twist 223 barrel. I want to shoot heavy 75 grain bullets in the 22-250 for long range target practice. Most 22-250 barrels have a 1:12 or 1:14 twist. They are not suited to the weight of bullet I want to use. I should be able to rechamber the .223 significanlty cheaper than buying a custom barrel with a 1:8 twist. How much is the rechambering going to cost.

This should be an easy project for your gunsmith since there is no need to index the barrel or headspace precisely, being a Savage the final headspacing will be done by you when installing he barrel.

In north Texas this project would cost about $60.00. If the gunsmith removes and installs the barrel and test fires it will run a little more.
