Remington 799's
I know they've been discussed here a bit in the past, but anybody have any recent first hand experience with them? I'm interested in the Hornet and .222 chamberings.

It's a neat little rifle that makes a nice base for customizing. If I wanted to leave it 100% factory stock I would probably pick the CZ527 over the Mini Mauser.

FWIW it's no longer shown on Remington's website.

Makes me wonder of the relationship between Remington and Zastava has evaporated

It's still on Remington's Website.

Interesting little action, does any one know if it could be made to feed the .250 Savage? The 22-250 is the same case but has a shorter OAL 2.35 vs 2.515 for the .250 Sav.

I don't know, but they're here:

I've found that using search but the 798 and 799 are not found as usual under "center fire rifle" ....and I also know that Remington isn't at all good at maintaining their website.

I hope someone else is importing zastava!

Zastava says the mag box is 2 19/64 long.

There may be room to lengthen the mag box.

once you see the tiny little locking lugs you might rethink this idea....

The magazine length makes it a moot point but I see the 22-250 listed as being loaded in the 50,000-52,000 CUP range and the .250 Savage as down around 44,000CUP.

Remington chambers the 799 in 22-25, why would the lugs make a difference?

250 is a no go unless you want to seat the bullets deep and the follower is shorter than the box. I bought a 22-250 and changed over to 7mmbr. 120gr are OK.
