Just got a rifle that is engraved and signed by John Warren. What can anyone tell me about him. Did he build complete rifles or was he just an engraver. The work is just gorgeous.
I appreciate any info you may have.

Glen71I found two references by Googling "John Warren, firerams engraver". There is a Browning Centennial set "engraved in the style of John Warren" for sale, and I found a reference to the Ruger Creedmore Rifle, which appeared on the cover of the 1969 Gun Digest. Mr. Warren did the engraving.

molemanJohn,
I believe John Warren did a few (less than 10?) stocks or complete rifles before devoting himself strictly to engraving. IIRC he built a left hand Weatherby Mark X in .300 Weatherby for Dave Petzal and he also may have built a rifle or two for John Amber.

fla3006John Warren was one of those legendary gunmakers who could do it all. Many of his pieces were shown on pages of Gun Digest back in the 50s & 60s. A favorite of John T. Amber. He was especially known for his fine engraving. A rare and valuable rifle you have.
