Barrel question?
I'm considering rebarreling/rechambering a M70 Featherweight to 250 Savage. When ordering a barrel from a manufactures that can profile, thread, chamber and lengthen the throat to customer specs; is it best to get it done by them or the gunsmith that puts the rifle together? Does it matter?
Cheers...

Con,

Threading and chambering is best left to be done by the gunsmith who puts the rifle together.

Profiling the barrel is better done by the manufacturers.

That is entirely dependant on the gunmakers ability and experience. Some gunmakers break into a cold sweat at the thought of it while others consider it routine.

If your gunsmith "breaks into a cold sweat" at something that simple, you might want to look elsewhere.
